High yield Rice cultivation and the use of pesticides. A. diseases

Japan Pesticide Inf 5: 6-11

In this review accounts are given of pesticide use in rice cultivation after World War II; the shift of planting time and change in disease incidence; increasing fertilizer application and the development of organo-Hg dust; the replacement of the latter with non-Hg fungicides; recently developed fungicides for blast; chemicals for other diseases; and application methods for agricultural chemicals.
