Identification and maintenance of races of Erysiphe polygoni from Trifolium pratense



Phytopatholqgy 56(7): 795-798



A high degree of physiologic specialization of Erysiphe polygoni from Trifolium pratense was demonstrated on red clover clones. Reactions of entire plants and detached leaves were identical. A detached leaf method was best for race identification. The best method for maintaing pure races was on T. carolinianum grown on half-strength Hoagland and Arnon' 3 solution in test tubes at 8 hr. light/day.
