Immunoglobulins of the hamster. II. Characterization of the gamma A and other immunoglobulins in serum and secretions

Journal of Immunology 104(5): 1228-1235

An investigation of the distribution of immunoglobulins in serum, colostrum obtained within 2 days post par-turn, saliva and urine from hamsters revealed a predominance of beta A. Only beta A was found in saliva, whereas colostrum and urine contained beta 2 and beta A. No differences in electrophoretic mobility were found between serum and secretory beta A regardless of derivation. Analytical ultracentrifugation and chromatography showed the corrected sedimentation coeff.of yA to be 152 S.
