Incidence Of Inclusion-Body Rhinitis In Iowa Swine

Incidence Of Inclusion-Body Rhinitis In Iowa Swine

Journal of the American Veterinary Medical Association 144: 33-37

Intranuclear inclusion bodies were found in 35 of 334 pigs submitted for various reasons to a research and diagnostic laboratory. This represented 25 of 211 herds or 12% of the herds in which pigs were found positive for inclusion-body rhinitis (IBR). Pigs in 36% of the herds with EBR had clinical signs of rhinitis. Inclusion bodies were produced in 2 of three 1-day-old pigs inoculated intra-nasally with infected turbinate material.
