Incidence of neoplasms among horses and cattle seen at a large-animal clinic from 1950 to 1965

During fifteen years, 9, 782 horses were admitted to the Leipzig clinic and neoplasms were found in 171 (1.75%), including 83 benign and 86 malignant neoplasms. This incidence agreed with the findings of other authors. Among 6, 173 cattle, neoplasms were found in 58 (0.94%); 33 were benign and 21 were malignant (17 sarcomas and 4 carcinomas). Neoplasms were also seen in 3 of 946 pigs, 3 of 260 sheep and 2 of 45 goats.
