Of 636 pregnant women 182 had weights 15% greater than normal and were considered obese. Of the 182, 47.25% were up to 20, 50% were 20 to 40 and 2.75% were more than 40% overweight. In age groups less than 20, 20 to 29, 30 to 39 and more than 40 years there were, respectively, 16.9, 24.6, 40.5 and 41.2% obese. For women with first to sixth pregnancies values were 22.3, 31.9, 41.1, 48, 41.7 and 40%, respectively. In the same age groups percentage values increased with number of pregnancies.
