Income-expenditure elasticities for food in households of differing size and composition

Income-expenditure elasticities for food in households of differing size and composition

Quart. Bull., Rep. Res. Michigan State Univ. Agr. Exp. Sta. (East Lansing, Mich.), Aug 47(1): 43-50

Elasticities were estimated for 25 different household size and composition types with data from the sample of the 1955 U.S. Department of Agriculture 'Household food consumption survey'. The significance of the differences in these elasticities was evaluated by estimating 95 per cent confidence intervals for each elasticity. When arrayed, the confidence intervals of virtually all the elasticities were found to overlap to some extent.
