Incorporation of radioactivity from GDP-D-14C-mannose into hemicellulose B

An enzyme preparation from mung bean (Phaseolus aureus ) seedlings catalysed the incorporation of marinose from GDP-D-14C-mannose into hemicellul-ose-B fraction. Complete acid hydrolysis of this material liberated all of the radioactivity as mannose, and enzymatic hydrolysis of the 14C-polymer with a hemicellulase liberated 3 neutral, diffusable, 14C-mannose oligosaccharides and free glucose, indicating that the disaccharide was (3-mannosyl-glucose.
