Increase of proteolytic activity of Bacillus mesentericus under the influence of ethyleneimine and ethacydine

Strain 34, selected for high proteolytic activity, on treatment with ethyleneimine at a concentration of 1: 1000 produced several mutants showing alterations in colony type and reduced enzyme activity and two with 15-20% higher activity. The other mutagen induced 17-41% of colonies with increased proteolytic activity. All mutants with higher activity had normal colonies. (Inst. Microbiol. Virol. Acad.
