Increased sensitivity of the complement fixation test for contagious bovine pleuropneumonia on sera preserved with phenol

Increased sensitivity of the complement fixation test for contagious bovine pleuropneumonia on sera preserved with phenol

Bulletin of Epizootic Diseases of Africa. Bulletin des Epizooties en Afrique 16(3): 295-301

Increased sensitivity in the c.f. test for contagious bovine pleuropneumonia, shown by serum samples that had been preserved with phenol, was due to inactivation of the complement by the phenol. This effect was absent at phenol cone, below 0.24% and increased over the range 0.032% to 0.3%.
