Increasing mutation frequency in rice by repeated gamma irradiation

Dry seeds previously irradiated with 15 kr. were reirradiated with dosages ranging from 15 to 75 kr. The frequencies of somatic mutations and meiotic aberrations were significantly higher in plants derived from these seeds rather than from seeds irradiated once. Seed set was markedly reduced only where the dosage rate at the second application was 45, 60 or 75 kr.
