Infectious and immunizing processes in experimental trypanosomiasis in guinea-pigs and rabbits

Infectious and immunizing processes in experimental trypanosomiasis in guinea-pigs and rabbits

Izv. mikrobiol. Inst, Sofia 17: 171-181

Experimental T. equiperdum infection in g.pigs caused a prolonged, high-grade parasitaemia, and in rabbits a chronic parasitaemia of a lower degree than in g.pigs. Non-specific and specific cellular and humoral protective factors did not become activated to such a degree as to produce immunity. Leucocytes were activated only after the invasion of the blood stream, where the agent did not multiply but entered it from the tissues and organs where multiplication took place.
