In experiments in California in 1966, six American varieties of rice were used to rear one generation each of Siiophilus oryzae (L.) and S. zeamais Motsch. in order to determine whether they had any resistance to the weevils. An analysis of the data for oviposition and adult emergence indicated that the differences between the varieties were highly significant for both species. There was no correlation between these data and the type or other characteristics of the grain.
