Inhibitors from Carob (Ceratonia siliqua L.) I. Nature of the Interaction With Gibberellic Acid on Shoot Growth

Inhibitors from Carob (Ceratonia siliqua L.) I. Nature of the Interaction With Gibberellic Acid on Shoot Growth

Plant Physiology 43(6): 859-864

Concentrated whole extracts of immature fruit of C. siliqua, and three fractions derived from the extract, inhibited gibberellic acid (GA)-induced growth of pea seedlings. The inhibition could be reversed by increasing the amount of GA. The inhibitors did not reduce the endogenous growth ofseedlings, but only that induced by GA.
