Abstract
When TMV was inoculated to Xanthi n.c. plants previously infected with CMV and to uninfected controls the protective effect of CMV varied from nil to 90% according to the stage of infection. When the CMV infection had not reached the TMV inoculated leaves the susceptibility of these leaves remained unaffected, suggesting that protection is linked to CMV presence. Max. protection occurred 8-16 days after inoculation with CMV.
