Intestinal parasites and commensals of an indigenous population in the Lake Baringo area of central Kenya

Stool examination of 215 natives of the Lake Baringo area of central Kenya revealed various protozoa and the following helminths with the percentage incidence of infection shown in parentheses: Hymenolepis nana (2%), Taenia (9%), Enterobius vermicularis (1%), hookworm (4%), Strongyloides (1%), Trichostrongyhts (8%), Trichuris trichiura (5%) and Fasciola hepatica (3%).
