Turnip-rape Marino could be vernalized at the seed stage but needed short days; long days given during seed or plant vernalization led to partial devernalization. Lack of short days led to leafy proliferation of the bracts, compression of the inflorescence axis and to premature abortion of flower-buds. The plants also flowered throughout the growing season and mostly survived the following winter.
