Investigations of serum transferrin types of German Black Pied cattle. 2. Frequencies of transferrin alleles and the percentage distribution of genotypes among performance-recorded cattle

Investigations of serum transferrin types of German Black Pied cattle. 2. Frequencies of transferrin alleles and the percentage distribution of genotypes among performance-recorded cattle

Arch. Tierz, 12: 115-125

Following a review of the literature on transferrin aliele frequencies in about 60 breeds of cattle, data are presented which were derived from 24 German Black Pied herds studied over 5 yr. The TfA, TfD and TfE frequencies resp. were 0.516, 0.418 and 0.066 in the 1st yr and 0.515, 0.428 and 0.057 in the 5th, the between-year differences being non-significant. When the serum transferrin types AA, AD and DD only were considered, they occurred in the approx. ratio 30: 50: 20 in each of the 5yr.
