Ten varieties were crossed in 172 different combinations, the F2 being studied after artificial infection with inoculum belonging mainly to race C. Crosses of the highly resistant forms Algerian 1179, Algerian 2612, Himalaya T253, Himalaya 292 and Akme with susceptible forms all showed resistance to be a simple dominant.
