Laboratory tests on the efficacy of creosote against wood-destroying basidiomycetes after ageing in treated wood

Laboratory tests on the efficacy of creosote against wood-destroying basidiomycetes after ageing in treated wood

Holzforschung. Bundesanstalt fur Materialprufung, Berlin-Dahlem, W. Germany. 21(6): 171-179

The sapwood tests involved Coniophora puteana and Lentinus lepideus on Scots pine and Lenzites trabea and Polystictus versicolor on beech, and 3 commercial creosotes, one of which was distilled in 3 fractions. After storage at 20 degrees C, 4 ano 12 weeks' wind tunnel exposure, and 4 weeks' leaching, the threshold values of the longer lasting permanence test were similar, except for the low-boiling and less effective fraction.
