The following regression equations of total DM intake y (kg) on daily milk yield x (kg) and correlation coefficients r were calculated from data of the Animal Nutrition Inst. : German Brown cows, y = 8.01 + 0.272x, r = 0.60; German Simmental cows, y = 7.53 + 0.332x, r = 0.79; Jersey cows, y = 4.61 + 0.385x, r = 0.85.
