Live, dried vaccine against Aujeszky's disease prepared from the GNKI strain of virus

Live, dried vaccine against Aujeszky's disease prepared from the GNKI strain of virus

Veterinariia (2): 44-45

ISSN/ISBN: 0042-4846

A controlled study of the safety and efficacy of a live, attenuated vaccine for Aujeszky's disease is described. This vaccine contained virus (the GNKI strain) grown in chick embryo fibroblasts to a titre of 106 TCID50 and then freeze-dried. It had no infectivity for piglets aged 3-5 days and older. Sheep immunized with the vaccine were immune to challenge with virulent virus. A single dose of 1 ml protected 18-day-old piglets on the 7th-12th days after vaccination.
