Mating behaviour of the oriental fruit moth, Grapholitha molesta (Busck) (Lepidoptera: Olethreutidae)

Mating behaviour of the oriental fruit moth, Grapholitha molesta (Busck) (Lepidoptera: Olethreutidae)

Canad. Ent, Ottawa, 96: 8, 1087-1093

The following is virtually the author's abstract. Experiments and observations on adults of Cydia (Grapholitha) molesta (Busck) in cages and in a peach orchard in the Niagara Peninsula of Ontario showed that both males and females may mate more than once. The maximum recorded number of matings was seven for males and five for females. Mating usually occurred in the late afternoon and early evening during the daily flight and egg-laying period.
