Mechanical fruit harvesting with a hand-guided shaking machine

Mechanical fruit harvesting with a hand-guided shaking machine

ErwObstb, 8: 105-7

In studies with black and red currants and gooseberries a heavy fruit set and even maturity were essential for good results with the Wacker harvesters OEG 8 and PEG 12. On average, there was a 3- to 4-fold increase in the rate of harvesting compared with hand picking. Performance rates with sour cherries varied from 27.8 to 120 kg./hour, depending on the firmness of attachment of the fruit, on crop density and partly on crown dimensions.
