Microflora of milk in hand milking compared with machine milking

Microflora of milk in hand milking compared with machine milking

Lucr. stiint. Inst. agron. Nicolae Balcescu, Ser, C (Zooteh. Med. vet.). 9: 521-27

Samples of evening milk from (i) 10 hand-milked cows and (ii) 10 machine milked cows were collected every 8-10 days for 75 days, and examined 2 h after milking. For -6 samples/cow the total bacterial count ranged from 2800 to 1 million/ml for (i) and from 690000 to 615 million for (ii). The mean coli-form counts for 10 samples each of (i) and (ii) were 6 and 140/ml respectively.
