Milk butyrometric pipettes

Milk butyrometric pipettes

Industria aliment. Buc, 16: 11, 579-80; 586

A pipette delivers a smaller volume of milk than water; this is due to differences in the amount of liquid remaining on the walls of the pipette and to the use of the bottom of the water meniscus but the top of the milk meniscus. The difference was estimated by first pipetting water 10 times and then milk 10 times into a narrow necked flask. With normal milk the difference averaged 0.092 ml. for 21 determinations with 3 pipettes.
