Natural variation in gulmohar

In a 2-year survey on gulmohar (Delonix regid) trees in the neighbourhood of New Delhi, the following characters were recorded: Number of inflorescences per branch, number of flowers per branch and inflorescence, flower size and the size and colour pattern of normal and standard petals. A large natural variation was observed in all the characters studied but particularly in the number of flowers per branch. No yellow flowering trees were found.
