Nitrogen balance studies with the milk-fed lamb. 9. Energy and protein requirements for maintenance, live-weight gain and wool growth

British Journal of Nutrition 26(1): 15-29

ISSN/ISBN: 0007-1145

PMID: 5090692

Male crossbred lambs were in 3 groups of 19. The protein contents of the diets were 12.0 (diet A), 28.5 (diet B) and 45.5% (diet C) of DM. Intakes of energy of lambs on each protein content ranged from below maintenance to full feeding. The experiment was for 3 weeks, in 3 periods of 7 days. Digestibility, liveweight gain and N balances were estimated and balance of S was estimated in periods 1 and 2. Wool growth was measured in periods 2 and 3.
