Ibis winter wheat grown in 1966 at 4 rates of N was given 5 1. CCC/ha at the start of elongation (growth stage 6). The highest yield without CCC, 5000 kg grain/ha, was obtained with 120 kg N/ha applied early (21 Apr.), but the crop lodged. Crops given CCC did not lodge and yielded 5600 kg grain/ha with 160 kg N/ha, the highest rate used.
