Organic matter (ground leaves of Gliricidia maculata containing 4.5-4.7% N and possessing a C/N ratio of 9) mixed with soil (clay of 16.4-16.8 cation-exchange capacity, fine sand of 4.1-5.3 CEC, loam of 5.4 CEC) was rapidly mineralized on incubation.
