The following is based largely on the author's summary of this third paper of a series on the interrelation of Simulium damnosum Theo, and Onchocerca volvulus from different West African bioclimatic zones. High intakes of microfilariae of the Sudan-savanna strain of O. volvulus by the forest form of S. damnosum increased the mortality of the flies only in the first 24 hours after the infecting blood-meal.
