Onchocerca-Simulium complexes. III. The survival of Simulium damnosum after high intakes of microfilariae of incompatible strains of Onchocerca volvulus, and the survival of the parasites in the fly
Ann. trop. Med. Parasit 60(4): 495-500
The following is based largely on the author's summary of this third paper of a series on the interrelation of Simulium damnosum Theo, and Onchocerca volvulus from different West African bioclimatic zones. High intakes of microfilariae of the Sudan-savanna strain of O. volvulus by the forest form of S. damnosum increased the mortality of the flies only in the first 24 hours after the infecting blood-meal.
