Patterns of anthocyanin distribution in the plant parts of the African cultivated rice (Oryza glaberrima Steud)

Anthocyanin pigmentation was present in all 40 varieties examined, the number of pig-mented parts varying from three to twelve. None showed anthocyanin pigmentation of the ligule, leaf blade, sterile glume or fertile glume but the leaf tip was pigmented in all of them.
