Performance of Holstein and crossbred dairy cattle in Louisiana. II. Growth rate through first lactation

As part of the crossbreeding experiment described in Pt I, an analysis was made of the data for 1956-68 on body weights at 6, 12, 15 and 18 mth and during 1st lactation of 127 purebred Holstein-Friesians (H.F.) and 355 crossbreds among the Brown Swiss (B.S.), H.F., Jersey and Red Sindhi (R.S.) breeds. Differences among breed groups and birth years were significant at 6 and 12 mth.
