86 commercial foods (including butter and milk) and 10 total diet samples were analysed for chlorinated organic pesticide residues by electron-capture gas chromatography utilizing 2% DC 200, 2% DC 200 + 0.2% Epon 1001 or 2% XE-60 as the stationary phase. Pesticides detected in 5 g butter, in ppm, were 0.104-0.238 OC-BHC, 0.015-0.081 gamma -BHC, 0.048-0.080 dieldrin, 0.085-0.217 DDE, 0.060-0.756 o, p-DDT and DDD, 0.060-0.748 p, p-DDT.
