Abstract
The symptoms of damage are described, with details of the control measures recommended for the following pests of apples and pears: codling moth, Carpocapsa pomonella; apple leaf roller, Tortrix capensana; pear leaf roller, Epichorista ionephala; red spider mite, Tetranychus cinnabarinus; bryobia mite, Bryobia praetiosa; pear bud mite, Eriophyes piri; woolly aphid, Eriosoma lanigerum; mealybugs, Pseudococcus spp.; pernicious scale, Quadraspidiotus perniciosus', grey scale, Diaspidiotus africanas; red scale, Aonidiella aurantii; bollworm, Helicoverpa armigera; antestia bug, Antestia variegata; Mediterranean fruit fly, Ceratitis capitata; Natal fruit fly, Pterandrus rosa; and snoutbeetles, Phlyctinus callosas, Eremnus atratus and Asynonychus godmani.
