Physiological action of ethylene in crop plants. 2. The role of the endosperm in the elongation of rice seedlings induced by ethylene

Physiological action of ethylene in crop plants. 2. The role of the endosperm in the elongation of rice seedlings induced by ethylene

Proceedings of the Crop Science Society of Japan, 40: 3, 386-390

Ethephon-stimulated elongation of rice seedlings increased with increase in the endosperm content of the seeds. Seedling growth was promoted by applying ethephon and methionine, the promotion being more effective in darkness for the former and in the light for the latter.
