Though pre-neolithic pollen is not normally preserved in non-peaty soils in S. Wales, conclusions on earlier local vegetation sequences could be drawn from the study of surface samples of mineral soils preserved by having been covered with peat bog, taken on a transect from the centre to the edge of a bog. Four sites were examined.
