4 groups of 5 cows each were fed either (i) beet pulp +residue from distillation of molasses (19% crude protein), (ii) as (i), but with 8.8% crude protein, (ii) beet pulp+urea (-18% crude protein), or (iv) beet pulp (7.8% crude protein). The protein levels in (ii) and (iv) were made up to those of (i) and (iii) with concentrates.
