The following is virtually the authors' abstract of this further part of a series . When larvae of Heliothis zea (Boddie) and Spodoptera frugiperda (J. E. Smith) in Georgia were fed diets containing lyophilised maize plant tissue, significant differences in food use were found among the various maize lines and plant parts and between insect species. After angular transformation of the percentages, the average percentages of use of plant parts by Heliothis, in descending order, were: kernel 41.9, silks 37.7 and leaves 31.7.
