Rhizoctonia solani Kuehn, a pathogen causing brown root rot of Sugar Beet in Iran

Rhizoctonia solani Kuehn, a pathogen causing brown root rot of Sugar Beet in Iran

Iran. Jnl Pl. Path, 6: 2, 53-62

The disease is one of the most important on beet. R. solani and Fusarium sp. were isolated from infected roots; the former, being the more widely distributed and more important, was studied. It infects beet at all stages of growth; seedlings were very susceptible and up to harvest time the roots were subject to the disease which caused increased mortality and reduced yields. Any injury, mechanical or biological, favoured rapid spread of infection.
