Routine methods of examination for meat and meat products. V. Detection and semi-quantitative determination of dried skim-milk

Routine methods of examination for meat and meat products. V. Detection and semi-quantitative determination of dried skim-milk

Fleischwirtschaft 52(4): 441-442

A semi-quantitative method is described for determination of dried skim-milk, based on its lactose content. Lactose is determined in an aqueous meat extract by paper or thin-layer chromatography (colour reaction with aniline phthalate). A concn. of 0.05% lactose, corresponding to 0.1% dried skim-milk, can be determined semi-quantitatively.
