Scope of improvement in Punjab-American cotton 320F (G. hirsutum L.)

Variability has arisen by natural crossing. Single plants were selected for good combinations of halo length and ginning percentage; since these characters are usually negatively correlated, plants superior in one or other character were not necessarily selected. Five of the resulting families were found to be promising; they were all superior to 320F in halo length, one was superior in ginning percentage and two were more productive.
