The 3-year study reported involved 4 vine varieties and 5 localities. Leaves were analysed at the beginning and end of the flowering period and at the beginning and end of fruit ripening. The composition of the soils and irrigation waters concerned is shown in tables. Values of N and P decreased at an almost uniform rate for about 20 weeks following bud burst, and then much more slowly during the rest of the season, becoming constant towards the end.
