The following is based largely on the author's abstract. The existence in females of Cydia (Grapholitha) molesta (Busck) of a chemical sex pheromone that both attracts and sexually excites adult males was demonstrated in the laboratory in Ontario. Males without antennae were neither attracted to nor sexually stimulated by it, and it therefore appears to be essential for reproduction.
