A table is given showing the development of livestock numbers in Turkey from 1957 to 1961. In 1961 there were 33, 306, 000 sheep, 18, 100, 000 goats and 5, 847, 000 mohair goats, 12, 097, 000 cattle, 1, 140, 000 buffaloes, 1, 916, 000 asses, 1, 305, 000 horses, 186, 000 mules and 65, 000 camels. A brief description is given of the 7 main sheep breeds in Turkey. Crossbreds form only 5.4% of the total.
