Simazine, its effect on nitrification and its decomposition by soil microorganisms

Lodi loam soil columns were placed in a constantly aerated soil perfusion unit, simazine added at 1, 3, 6 and 9 ppm and samples taken every 5 days for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate analyses. Simazine inhibited nitrification at 6 and 9 ppm.
