Some studies on hybrid vigour in advanced generations of maize-teosinte hybrid

Maize was crossed with teosinte, and the F2 to F6 were compared with the F1 and both parents. Height, leaf area, stem thickness, tillering and dry weight gradually decreased from the F1, while time to maturity increased. The earlier generations exceeded maize in height, tillering and dry weight, but were inferior in leaf area and stem thickness.
