Data are tabulated for Texel, Ausimi and Texel x Ausimi, and for Merino, Barki and Merino x Barki at birth, 3, 6, 9 and 12 mth of age. The halfbreds exceeded the parental breeds in external and internal diameters of primary and secondary wool follicles at birth, and showed intermediate values at the later ages. Density of primary wool follicles per mm2 skin was thus less in the crossbreds at the earlier ages.
