Specific colostral immunity in calves of cows vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease. II. Demonstration of immunity with the protection-test, and active immunity formation in calves after vaccination in the early postnatal period

Specific colostral immunity in calves of cows vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease. II. Demonstration of immunity with the protection-test, and active immunity formation in calves after vaccination in the early postnatal period

Vet. Med, Praha 11(9): 551-58

Calves of cows vaccinated against foot-and-mouth disease at least 5 months before calving were immune to virus challenge up to the age of 40 days, and then partly immune to the age of 2 months. They lost their immunity thereafter. Control calves from unvaccinated cows, challenged between 18 and 93 days of age, all proved susceptible.
