Studies in water relations of rice. III. Effect of varying water regimes and levels of nitrogen on the growth and yield of rice

Interaction of N (45 and 90 kg/ha or no treatment) and water (pots kept in dry tanks or in tanks filled 7 1/2 cm deep with water, saturation, submerged) was studied in pot experiments under controlled conditions. Significantly higher yields under high water-regime and moderate N level, and under moderate water-regime and high N level, point to a mutual interdependence of water and N in determining fertilizer uptake and crop yields.
